LEGAL NOTICE
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and US Department of Energy (DOE) will conduct public hearings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Proposed Montana Alberta Tie transmission line.
HELENA— Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. has proposed to build a 230 kV electric transmission line from Lethbridge, Alberta, to Great Falls, Montana. DEQ and DOE (the agencies) have recently released a joint document on the project. For DEQ, the document serves as a supplement to Montana’s previously released Draft EIS. The document also serves as DOE’s Draft EIS.
Pursuant to the requirements of Section 75-20-302 of the Montana Codes, DEQ is providing notice to persons owning property that may be affected by the line and local reroutes. Copies of the document summary and a CD containing the document are being mailed to interested parties in the project area. Persons who commented on the DEQ’s Draft EIS and landowners potentially affected by suggested local reroutes will be mailed a complete copy of the document. Additional information about the project, including project maps, will be posted on the DEQ website at: MFS/MATL.mcpx. The agencies will conduct hearings on March 11-13, 2008 to take oral and written comments on the Draft EIS. The hearings will be held at the following locations from 6-9 P.M.:
March 11: Great Falls - Civic Center, Missouri Room, 2 Park Dr. S.
March 12: Cut Bank – Voting Center, 917 East Railroad St.
March 13: Conrad –Norley Hall, 400 N Virginia
Written comments are being accepted on the document during a 45-day comment period which will end on March 31, 2008. Written comments may be submitted to either:
