Recycling Infrastructure Grants
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 allocated funding to improve the recycling infrastructure in Montana communities. A total of $312,000 was available to assist with recycling programs in Montana.
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is pleased to announce the following awards for Recycling Infrastructure Grants:
Lincoln County Department of Environmental Health - $25,000 for two recycling trailers to be placed in Libby and Troy.
The City of Colstrip - $13,775 for a baler, collection bins and an educational campaign. Colstrip will collaborate with Powder River County.
Lake County Solid Waste Management District - $24,867 for three compartmentalized roll-off bins to be placed in St. Ignatius, Ronan and Polson. Lake County will collaborate with the City of Polson.
City of Polson - $22,380 for recycling bins to be placed in schools, city offices and public areas; a trailer to haul the recyclables to the Lake County Transfer Station is funded.
Broadwater County Solid Waste Department - $12,500 for a roll-off box to collect cardboard in the county. Broadwater County Solid Waste will collaborate with the Broadwater County Development Corp.
Home ReSource - $16,156 for tools to refurbish construction and demolition materials for re-use.
Granite County Commissioners - $24,590 for two balers to be placed at the Drummond and Philipsburg container sites.
Broadwater County Development Corporation - $12,500 for a cardboard baler to be used in Broadwater County. Broadwater County Development Corp. will collaborate with Broadwater County Solid Waste.
City of Bozeman - $14,117 for a school district-wide recycling program that includes bins, totes and an educational campaign.
Lincoln Solid Waste District - $14,000 for a baler, concrete pad and shed. Lincoln will collaborate with the Augusta Solid Waste District and Headwaters Cooperative Recycling.
Earth First Aid - $21,000 for roll-off bins for the collection of recyclables in rural areas around Billings.
Hill County - $3,200 for paper recycling bins to be placed in offices in Havre and throughout the community.
Powder River County - $16,340 for a baler and installation costs. Powder River will collaborate with the City of Colstrip on transportation.
Augusta Solid Waste District - $14,000 for baler, concrete pad and shed. Augusta will collaborate with the Lincoln Solid Waste District and Headwaters Cooperative Recycling.
Palindrome Products - $25,000 for a densifier to process recyclable plastics in the Missoula area.
Flathead County Solid Waste District - $25,000 for a compactor for cardboard collected in Columbia Falls.
Associated Students of Montana State University - $4,660.59 for recycling bins to be used at sporting events, performances and tradeshows held on campus.
City of Shelby - $18,900 for a recycling trailer, collection bins and an educational campaign.
