The mission of the Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) is to assist Montana businesses to understand and comply with environmental regulations and to go beyond the regulations to prevent pollution and improve environmental quality.

Deliberately designed as a separate, non-regulatory, program within the DEQ, the Small Business Assistance Program serves to assist Montana businesses to understand and comply with applicable environmental regulations.
How is the SBAP Structured?
- Located within the Air, Energy, & Pollution Prevention Bureau.
- Non-regulatory.
- Although housed within the DEQ, SBAP DOES NOT share specifics with other departments. Additionally, those seeking assistance may remain anonymous when using the toll-free hotline.
Role of the SBAP:
- Serve as an advocate for small businesses.
- Provide environmental assistance and education to Montana's small businesses including technical assistance, compliance assistance, permit assistance, and pollution prevention assistance.
