Fairmont Hot Springs is perhaps the most intensely developed spa and resort in Montana. There are two Olympic-sized swimming pools, two hot pools and room heating for a resort hotel. Water is provided by five wells with flowing over 150 gpm, one hot water well and four cold water wells. Hot water is provided to Fairmont via a 600-foot well with 125 F artesian water, at 150 to 200 gpm. Bottom-hole temperatures were initially 170 F, artesian hot water is mixed with cold water from pumped wells prior to use in the swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, and space heating of Fairmont hotel rooms.
