Saving Energy in Your Home

These resources will help you weatherize your home and save energy all year. Almost everyone can find some measure that they can take to reduce the impact of high energy prices while maintaining their WARM HOMES.  Remember, some of these energy conservation improvements to your home will also be eligible for the 25 percent Montana energy conservation tax credit. This 35-page book, produced by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, provides guidelines and recommendations to improve the comfort of your home and reduce your energy bills. Practical information is provided on improving the performance of heating systems, sealing air leaks, energy-efficient lighting tips and insulating your home.

DOE ENERGY SAVER$ TIPS – Tips on Saving Energy and Money at Home

This Department of Energy's Energy Saver$ Tips booklet provides homeowners with simple tips for saving energy and money at home. Information is presented on new energy saving, efficient technologies for new or existing homes. Some of the tips are simple to do. Others require more effort and investment, but promise big savings over the years.

"Power Bill" Energy Brochures

The Montana State University Extension Service has produced a series of colorful brochures that address a wide range of home energy-saving topics. Energy topics covered include; mobile home energy tips, air sealing, adding additional insulation, efficient lighting, indoor air quality, storm windows and other home improvement options.
