Agent Ken Poteet began his law enforcement career in the U.S. Army Military Police. After the military he began work in civilian law enforcement in Southeast Tennessee. From 1985 to 1995, Ken worked for two sheriff's departments and one police department in the Tennessee area. During this time he was assigned to a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Federal Drug Task Force in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ken also served as a drug unit commander for a local drug task force in the Chattanooga area. In 1995, Ken accepted a position with the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Ken has served both as a narcotics agent and as a regional narcotics supervisor for DCI.
Over the last 11 years, Ken has become increasingly involved with speaking and instruction to both law enforcement and civilian groups. The majority of his instructing time involves meth and meth lab awareness training. Ken is also a certified instructor through the Montana Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission in Basic Drug Investigations and Undercover Investigations. Ken has over 25 years in law enforcement with 18 of those years in drug enforcement and continues to serve DCI in Helena, Montana.
