Make the world and your school a cleaner place

Electronics have become an important part of our everyday life. We wake up to an alarm clock, keep in touch by cell phone, organize our lives by PDAs, check email on computers, and watch television or DVDs in the evening. But what do we do with electronics we no longer want?

Electronics should be recycled when possible and kept out of landfills. Electronic recycling was rare in the past, but is increasing due to the volume of products sold and disposed of each year. Each individual electronic may contain just small amounts of diverse non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals (such as lead and mercury); however, the cumulative impacts to the environment are potentially substantial. Diverting electronics from landfills and recycling the toxic materials and binding them into new products is the best way to protect our environment and extend the useful life of our landfills.
