Surface Water Monitoring

The Surface Water Monitoring Program monitors water quality conditions and trends statewide, and assesses sources and severity of pollution problems.  Bureau staff develop and convey pertinent and reliable information on the condition of Montana's environment to resource managers and the public.

The Program has responsibility for operation of statewide water quality monitoring networks, conducts inventories of pollution sources, and identifies impaired streams, lakes and watersheds.
